About the Artist
Caroline Koons has been working with clay for over 30 years. Her forms are both wheel-thrown and formed by hand. She particularly enjoys working with porcelain clay for its capacity for detail and coloring. Pieces are sprayed and textures formed and after careful drying are again bisque fired. Additional glazing and firings continue until forms are to her desired completion. Frequent use of gold leaf or 22K gold accents helps to obtain desired visual richness. Most pieces she enhances with shapes from nature, images of her travels, and inner visions. She lives and works in Aurora, Missouri USA
